My Eyes

My awesome Soul Sister Deb, created this theme challenge.

Elements needed in Layout:
"No sir, I will not take that for granted."
A stamped Image
ribbon

I used fairly new SEI patterned paper and I embossed with copper for the butterly stamped image.

My mom told me to use my eyes for something that I don't take for granted. I have rare disorder called Kerataconus. It means that my corneas are degenerating. Glasses help very little. I squint a lot! I am hoping with the new doctor I am working with he will find me some contacts that do not hurt and that will help to see, otherwise I will have to have a corneal transplant surgery. That is something that I sure don't want to do!

New Season

american idol logo, originally uploaded by New Media Literacies.

After all the auditions in different cities, I am happy that Idol is gone live again. I highly recommend DVR's for shows like this. I can speed through the commercials and the jibber jabber and hear the performances. Simon is his usual self and Ellen is a great addition to the show!

I'm Hooked!

With the Olympics in full swing, I find myself mesmerized by this sport known as Curling. It's sort of boring but I can't stop watching it. I don't understand the sport or what the point process is, but I love it!

GO USA!

These are a few of my FAVOURITE things!

This layout is a challenge on Soul Scrappers. Five things that are your "Favourite"

These are a few of my favorite things….
Knitting Supplies: Yarn, Yarn, Yarn…A girl can never have enough yarn. Learning to knit has been a great hobby that I have taken up. I am not very good but can make a great scarf. Knitting is what keeps me busy on those cold winter days!

Kindle: The Kindle has been a savior for me. Being diagnosed with Kerataconis (Degeneration of the Corneas) this has given me the opportunity to be able to read without getting a headache or squinting. Also, the books are cheaper than the stand price and I can get a book at anytime or anyplace.

IPod – What would I do without my IPod. I love music and I love listening to music. I use these for when I am walking, in the car, in the airplane, on vacation, when I need to tone out the noise from my job, and to just get lost in the words.

Laptop- My life is on this thing. I store my pictures, spent many hours writing papers for my MBA, research, to have information always at my fingertips, to create, to connect with family and friends, and mostly to pass the time. Sometimes I need to just get off of this thing.

Scrapbooking Supplies: I could not live with out all my scrapbooking supplies. It is my passion, my world, my creative out, and my stress reliever!

Don't forget to check out Soul Scrappers on-line community! So many fun challenges. Here is the journaling on my page.

"This was fun, being able to spend time with the two girls. I don’t get to see them as often I would like. I had a great time having them pose in different areas of Mary and Mike’s yard. When they were playing with the Petunia’s it was precious. So adorable and they loved being the models."

Friendship Card

I love doing card swaps. The local Scrapbook store "Scrapbook Superstore" has a monthly card swap that is so fun. Last month was the first time I did this. Some awesome cards I received. Not only is it a ton of fun to get together once a month and build up my card supply but it's great meeting new people and sharing in our love for paper crafting. A bonus is they serve wine and snacks. Can I say RELAXING! This is my March swap! Theme: Friendship

It's definitely time to see some of this. I am done with the snow, the ice, the shoveling, the scraping the windows, the cold, the gloves, the hat, the winter coat. I am done with winter! It is time to bring on the sunshine, warm temps, and some thunderstorms! I am counting down the days till spring and summer!

Friday Theme Challenge

Click on the link next to the post...Soul Scrappers....and do my very first challenge.

The Theme: “I Heart…”
This theme was influenced by a dear friend of mine who always puts on her facebook status, “I heart…and she lists something. Also, working in a high school I hear the kids always saying to each other I heart u! Many of us heart things, we heart our loved ones, we heart our pets, we heart our home..etc.

For this challenge I encourage you to dig a little deeper for things you heart! On my layout I focused on three main words that I heart and why. CREATIVITY, CHALLENGE, and COURAGE. Feel free to use those words or come up with words on your own. Good Luck, Have Fun, and Tell your story!

Create a scrapbook page following the challenge guidelines. Next, upload your photo of your page to the Soul Scrappers Gallery

Bye Bye Rusty Pickle

So one of my favorite scrapbook lines...(well their kits anyway are awesome)is closing up shop due to economic times. I love the classes I have attended from this company and loved shopping at their warehouse in Utah this past summer. I am sad to see them go. Thank god mom and I got a million kits when we were shopping!

We go North to ALASKA!

My mom is so excited and I am too! She booked our cruise to Alaska today. I am just so happy that she is getting to see a place she always dreamed about. I am a little nervous. I have never been on a cruise ship and am a little worried about the fact that I am stuck on the ship for long periods of time (I can't escape), two- Titanic scared me....and we get to weave around icebergs, and three mom wants to go up in a helicopter...umm not to sure about that. Oh well that's what we have courage for right? I am very very exctied to be able to be taught by Teresa Collins besides Ali Edwards she is such a huge inspiration, a great teacher, she makes you dig deep, and just a very sweet awesome person. I recommend checking out her blog and taking any of her classes she ROCKS! The picture is of Teresa, mom, and I at CKU in Provo Utah last summer.

Icebergs or Blue Water?

My mom the amazing woman that she is has a goal. Her goal is to travel to all the 50 states. This something she has been working on for years....since dad has passed away...I am her new travel buddy. This year we were going to go to Mexico, the flight cost was out of this world for the time we wanted to go, so we didn't go. Then we decided we would go to Hawaii next Christmas. Well then while I was looking at the Scrap Map, I saw an Alaskan Cruise with Scrapbook Designer Teresa Collins (whom I love). I emailed that to my mom. I get a phone call from her and I all she says to me is ICE BERGS or BLUE WATER? I was confused. Then it hit me, she was asking me what I wanted to do and I had to decide by Monday! I know this is a dream of her to go to Alaska and she has already been to Hawaii. I decided today to go on the Cruise. I know we will have an awesome time together. I am so thankful to be able to spend time with my mom on an amazing trip and to share our passion for scrappin'! I am blessed!

Wall Art

So I have never been really good at getting a level and a ruler and making sure my pictures on the wall are straight...never been my thing... However, I love this work of art I did. I used 12x12 wood pieces and painted the edges. I cut pattern scrapbook paper down 1/4 in on all sides and with a strong glue, glued the paper on the wood. I did not put any protection over the paper because I change the colors in my living room a lot. This is such a fun and creative way to decorate, and super easy too!

The Squeaker

I love when my dog gets his squeaker going in his toy! It just makes me laugh how fast he can squeak it. I know he is having a ball with it! Once the squeaker is out, the toy is done...He won't touch it anymore. I love my dog!

BEEN SO LONG!

Wow, it's been so long since I have been to this site to even blog about anything. I am not sure if I even know how to really be a good blogger. My goal for this year is to create a better blog, to put my creations on my blog, to build a website and to be a lot less stressed! Looking forward to 2010!
